The Wiggles and Their Favorite Fruit Salad: A Great Way to Engage the Kids in Cooking
Ever since your kids saw the first episode of the Wiggles, they were most likely hooked. It might be their kooky dress, their funny town or their silly jokes, but either way, you can bet that the children?s attention is all eyes on the screen when that show is playing. What is most enjoyable, as a parent, is to see that these four funnily dressed men do their best to play positive role models for the children they seek to entertain. In so they have prepared some very great jingles describing the fun in making a fruit salad. Using this to its fullest advantage, parents may be able to get their children help make and eat a healthy snack. The best way to get a child to do what you want is to make them think it was their idea in the first place. With this concept in mind, it is imperative that the children help with every aspect of making this fruit salad and that we allow them to call the shots, or at least make them believe that they do. As a great precursor to your shopping, be sure that your children are familiar with the rhyme of the jingle or have recently watched the show. Then have them keen to the idea that you would like to make fruit salad and ask them what they think goes in it. Having them help out at the store in picking out the plumpest and juiciest ingredients will undoubtedly stir their cravings. When done with the shopping and preparing the treat, involve the children in the safe parts of the food prep while you take on the cutting, slicing, and peeling. They can wash, remove stickers, peel, and dump the ingredients. Once all of the fruit has been added, give it a stir and let the kids dish up a serving for everyone. Guaranteed, everyone will enjoy a healthy and delicious snack. Mrs. Party...
