More Than a Child Support Check

Children need more than a child support check. As a parent you have to have your priorities in order to really support your child's best interest. One of the most important things I kept in mind when I used to pay child support; was the fact it wasn't going to last forever, and my child needed more than a weekly or every two week paycheck. I made up my mind I would do more than just provide monetarily. Every child needs to be supported. There are four ways to support your child. The first is by meeting their physical needs, secondly meeting your child emotional needs, third meeting their spiritual needs and fourth contributing financially over and beyond your child support obligation. I mention in my book "Drama in the Courtroom" how all these needs need to be met and the results can easily be you bonding with your children.

The ultimate goal for you as a parent is to make the right decisions for your child's well being and best interest. While children are unable to care or provide for themselves it is our duty and obligation to teach and train our children in the way they should go. Proverbs 22: 6 say "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it." Once you and I begin to count up the cost of raising our children the rewards are fulfilling once you see your child imitating you, something a support payment could never do. Unfortunately there are some parents who do not want to commit to taking care of their children over and beyond their child support obligation. I want to encourage each of you currently paying support payment to re-examine the situation and stop thinking about yourself and for a minute think about the impact and influence you can have on your own child.

The results can turn into a better relationship with your former spouse, girlfriend, and your children. Keep in mind, it's only temporary and then you will have the rest of your life to support your child even when they're older and your financial obligation is no longer ordered by the courts. The system works; you just have to work it for your benefit. I'm living proof and I used the system to my advantage without abusing it.

Your child or children are an asset to you and not a liability. Look, Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of your womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3.
